Modified MDI Isocyanate Curative 1/2 Gallon Summary
RCS modified MDI isocyanate is an excellent room temperature curative for HTPB. It provides plenty of pot life and good physical properties. If you've been using PAPI or Isonate 143-L you'll be amazed at the difference! Use at the 12.9% concentration level with HTPB with an OH value of .80 (hydroxyl equivalent weight of 1250) and with a 1:1 NCO:OH ratio. For the mathematically challenged that's 87.1% HTPB (at .80 OH value), 12.9% isocyanate (with no plasticizer). Adjust the formulation accordingly for other OH values and NCO:OH ratios. Pot life is 2 - 3 hours, cure time is 3 - 5 days at room temperature. 1/2 gallon bottle.

Made several different batches of propellant. In past have used Papi,144L, E744 and others. All seemd to have a lower working time when its higher temps outside. I was mixing in temps between 75 to 98 degrees. Usually you're very pressed for time to pack and clean up without it kicking off i easily was able to use this in both high solids packed and pourable formulas. I added currative, mixed for 30 minutes. Then vacuum for 30 minutes and still had more than 45 minutes to a hour working time and clean up time after. It also was pretty well cured over 24 hours. Next day i could work with the grains. Very impressed with the product. Highly recommend it to anyone mixing propellant that needs a quality currative. The grains were cured, and solid with just enough flex. Couldnt ask for better.
